Longbridge Deverill in 1843

Longbridge Deverhill or Deverill is in the southern division of Damerham hundred. It is called Longbridge Deverhill to distinguish it from four other villages to which the name of Deverhill is common, all lying within about three miles south of Longbridge Deverhill, and one of them, Hill Deverhill, immediately adjacent to it. Longbridge Deverill parish has an area of 4,230 acres ; the population, in 1831, was 1,307, more than a third agricultural : the clothing manufacture employed above fifty men.
