Clonmellon in 1839

Clonmellon is in the barony of Delvin, close upon the border of the county.

It is a neat little town, comprehending, in 1831, 179 houses, and a population of 960.

There are a considerable corn-market on Tuesday, lately established, and two yearly fairs.

Petty-sessions are held, and a portion of the county constabulary are posted here.

The parish church of Killua, in which parish the town is situated, is near the town; it is a neat building, with a spire.
